Click the link above to see how we have shown that specific nociceptive sensory neurons (Class IV multidendritic neurons) in the Drosophila larva activate the larval rolling locomotion. In the example shown above, we expressed the blue light activated ion channel (channelrhodpsin2) in Class IV neurons. This allows us to trigger the escape locomotion behavior with blue light.
